Hello! My name is Emily Rink and this is my first year as the K-12 Library Media Specialist for Tri County Area Schools. I received my Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (2020) and an MLIS degree from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (2022) with an emphasis in School Library Media Studies. In my free time, I love to read fantasy novels, watch history documentaries, and spend time with my family. In the summertime, you will often find me bass fishing in lakes in and around Portage County and spending nights around a campfire listening to Bob Uecker commentate Brewer Games. Thank you for visiting my page - I look forward to a fantastic year! Please feel free to reach out at emilyrink@tcpenguin.net
Ms. Rink spending time at the American Library National Convention in June 2023! Librarians from all over the county traveled to Chicago, Illinois to spend a week networking and socializing with other librarians. I attended many conferences through YALSA, the Young Adult Library Services Association, and AASL, the American Association of School Librarians.
I teach a “Fact Finding” Class. In this class, students are encouraged to pause and evaluate information that they use in their daily lives. Students are taught skills to help them identify false information and how to find accurate information in both online and print resources. Information that we find can be changed or tweaked by the author to fit their point of view and the purpose behind it. Teaching students to pause and think about what they are reading helps prevent misinformation and helps them become good digital citizens!
