Designs Collaborative Spaces

Designs Collaborative Spaces: Provides flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, and collaboration and community.

Here is what I am currently doing within this focus area: Holding monthly makerspace activities and competitions for all grades. Working 7 hours a week in PreK- 4th grade library, on library programming, collection development, and understanding needs and usage of the space. Having the 5-12 Library open to students during all hours of the school day except for Lunch Detention (12:15-12:44).

Here is what I want to do in this focus area: Involve HS students in the Makerspace, and involve MS students with exploratory options that don't involve technology. Utilize Google Classroom with 5th and 6th grade to engage them in directed research, collaboration, and evaluation skills. Involve High School students with library, exploration, problem solving activities taht are literacy based and non-literacy based.

Here are my goals for this focus area this year: Engage 5th and 6th grade students with Google Classroom to direct students to evaluate different websites, databases, and literacy models. Hold "building" contests for grades 7-12, helping students explore physics and solve real life challenges. Be the hub for student Chromebook check out and first stop for trouble shooting of Chromebook issues.

Here are my goals for this focus area for next year and beyond: Ensure equitable access to library space and materials. Update library makerspace furniture in the Primary Library. Continue to evaluate and update makerspace needs in 5-12 Library.
