The dimensions of various types of cars were analyzed and documented. To determine both the dimensions that the robot would need to be to fit into most cars and how far it would need to expand was determined. This same process was used to know how far the lift would have to rise depending on vechiles ground clearance.
Founded in 2018 and located in California, Volley Automation features a garage and autonomous parking system (APS) in order to autonomously park a vehicle.Â
By utilizing a 13 story garage system, the robot is able to park and retrieve the vehicle by using an AI integrated system to navigate the floors. All of these actions are performed from the consumer using an app
In effect, multiple robots are maneuvering around each simultaneously other allowing for maximum efficiency. They also have zero emissions due to their all electric design, and can carry roughly 7,000lbs.
While this 46 story luxury building itself isn't the parking garage, it capitalizes on the autonomous parking system (APS) to accommodate for population size within the condominium.
Featuring the largest APS in the world, it contains 29 self charging robots, as well as lasers and specially bar coded flooring to precisely navigate.
In order for a resident to utilize the system, they park their vehicle onto a tray, in which the robot goes underneath to retrieve it. Granted one of many elevators is unoccupied, a robot takes the lift to any unfilled floor and parks the the car. In order to retrieve their car, the consumer follows certain instructions on a mobile app.
