It is my passion working with immigrant and refugee survivors of DV, SA, and other general crimes. Provide advocacy services and resources so they can navigate the legal system to enhance safety plan. Screen participants accessing services. Provide domestic violence and sexual assault rights as a victim education to participants and referral to community programs as needed.
My major duties:
Assist participants create and enhance their safety by making safety plan
Provide educational and resources to participants to access the legal system
Assist participants petition for protective orders (DVPO, SAPO, AHO, NCO)
Assist participants with a CVC application (Crime Victim Compensation)
Assist participants in creating and presenting victim impact statements for criminal court cases
Provide moral support for court hearings
Communicate with other community service providers and filling out referrals to legal clinics and therapy/counseling
Assist participants establish goals for empowerment and self-sufficiency
Assist participants to communicate with law enforcement regarding filing reports and obtaining updates
Assist participants request police reports and court documents
Collaborate with Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) immigration attorneys for immigration relief needs
Record participants personal declaration regarding their victimization, trauma, and impact
Accompany participants to ICE check-in and immigration court as needed
Life outside of the office, I enjoy gardening, watching Thai drama and forensic files.
