Career and Technical Education
How do I choose a program?
What is a program of study?
A program of study is a sequence of courses that prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their chosen careers. These sequences embed relevant, real-world experiences and culminate in a postsecondary credential. CTE programs are offered at both Waxahachie High School and Waxahachie Global High School. Watch the videos below to learn more about the programs.
How do I earn an endorsement?
When a student completes a program of study, they will earn an endorsement. Your counselor will make sure you will complete your endorsement. Check out the freshman-level courses below organized by endorsement and program of study.
Which course do I select for freshman year?
Choose the first course in the program of study you would like to follow. Each of the freshman courses are listed in green below and have the programs of study they lead to listed. Use the Program of Study Course Sequences document for a quick view of all courses.

How to use the Planning Guide:
The CTE Planning Guide allows you to learn more about each CTE Program while seeing a visual representation of your four years in high school.
The example here shows the four years of courses in the Animal Science program. The fourth course in this program is two credits and takes up two spaces on the four-year plan to represent the double-blocked course.
You can write in over each other course to make sure everything you want to take fits into your four years.
