What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed.

There are 3 tiers that correspond to the tiers in MTSS; by targeting and supporting students universally, the hope is that fewer students will need more intensive supports.

Tier 1: Foundational support; universal supports provided to all students, school-wide.

Tier 2: Supports for students at risk for developing more serious behaviors before the behaviors start; additional supports and systems

Tier 3: Intensive, individualized support to improve behavioral/academic outcomes.

REACH Rewards

REACH Rewards are the BCCHS system to reward positive actions that are in line with the PBIS behavioral matrix (see matrix below). Rewards can be assigned via physical card or through the digital PBIS Rewards system.
