The Compassionate Friends Newport Beach Chapter is a community of parents and family members who have experienced the death of a child(ren). No matter what age or cause of death, they are gone too soon. That unites us. It is unnatural for a parent to outlive their child(ren). Yet it happens and here we are. The loss of a child(ren) causes deep pain that makes it feel impossible to go on living. And we do go on living to honor them.
We have found that by coming together in community, we hold space for the newcomers and support those whose journey of grief will never end. What ends is the intensity of pain. While we have leaders and presenters amongst us who help us to learn, we are peers. We are all grieving the absence of our child(ren).
We have found that at first we felt like we had nothing to give. Someone else’s hope became our hope. Now our hope can become yours.
