James Cruz is starting the 2017-18 school year as the new principal for McCormick Middle School at Hays CISD. He started his 14-year career in education at Del Valle Independent School District as a middle school math teacher.
“As the principal, I want to ensure that each child has access to and receives a quality education. I believe this can be achieved by providing a safe and nurturing environment conducive to learning,” said Cruz. “I envision our school as a place where all students can learn, where teachers can teach and be supported, and where all stakeholders are committed to excellence.”
Cruz earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Southwest Texas State University in 2003 and a Master of Education Administration from Concordia University in 2011.
Gloria Olivas Levins career in education spans 39 years. Gloria began her teaching career in 1978 teaching first-graders at Ysleta Elementary School in El Paso. She retired this past summer after serving as Cedar Grove Elementary School principal for five years. She was also a principal in the Tornillo ISD from 1989 to 1995. From 1995 to 2007, she was named principal at Glen Cove Elementary. Throughout her principalships her schools have received many awards and honors: TBEC Honor Roll School Award, TEA Exemplary and Recognized, National Blue Ribbon School, National Distinguished Title I School, Top 10 Parent Volunteer School, and C.A.T.C.H. Model School.
Gloria graduated from University of Texas El Paso with a bachelor's degree in elementary science in 1977. She graduated with a master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she holds both a Superintendent’s Certification Degree and Mid-management Administrator’s Certification Degree.
Todd Nesloney is the Principal of Webb Elementary in Navasota, TX. He is a White House Champion of Change, the 2015 Bammy Award Recipient for Elementary Principal and the 2014 Recipient for Classroom Teacher of the Year, the TCEA Teacher of the Year, a National School Board Association “20 to Watch”, and Center for Digital Education “Top 40 Innovators in Education”.
