Luke Reece is a poet, playwright, director, and producer dedicated to creating engaging and nuanced stories for audiences. He is the Associate Artistic Director at Soulpepper Theatre, and has worked at some of Canada's most celebrated theatre companies, including Obsidian Theatre, Young People’s Theatre, Caravan Theatre, The Highland Arts Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Tarragon Theatre, and The Stratford Festival. A decorated slam poet, Luke has earned national and provincial titles, representing Canada at the 2019 World Cup of Poetry Slam, where he placed 4th. In 2024, he won the ByBlacks People’s Choice Award for Best Actor for his solo show As I Must Live It, which also earned comparisons to Lin-Manuel Miranda in The Globe and Mail. His work extends beyond live performance, including a radio play, animated short, and a praised short film Notice, featured on CBC Arts as a part of the 21 Black Futures series. A passionate admirer of both prehistoric and contemporary raptors, Luke continues to shape the cultural landscape through his diverse creative projects.
