Program Requirements
Bundle of Credits
Being a SHSM student requires a little bit of planning when you do your course selections. In order to graduate with a Non-Profit SHSM you must complete the following credits, as part of your regular OSSD requirements:
ONE grade 11 or 12 English credit
ONE grade 11 or 12 Math credit
ONE grade 11 or 12 Science or Business Credit
FOUR grade 11 and/or grade 12 credit from the chart to the right:
Co-op
Complete a 2 or 4 credit co-op in a placement related to the non-profit field.
Certifications
You will receive training in Ethical Considerations, First Aid/CPR and WHMIS.
As well as certifications in at least 3 other areas such as:
advanced training in a technique/technology
anti-oppression and allyship training
behavior management
communication skills
compass/map/global positioning system (GPS)
conflict resolution
customer service
environmental awareness
equity and inclusion
event coordination
fundraising
group dynamics
incident management
infection control
leadership skills
mental health awareness
non-violent crisis intervention
personality inventory
portfolio development
project management
proposal/grant writing
