What is the ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) PROGRAM?
As a designated Congregated Advanced Placement Regional Centre, Marshall McLuhan is equipped with AP teacher coordinators who will guide students through enriched classes in the core subject areas (English, Math, Science, Social Studies and French), starting in grade 9 and continuing at every grade level. These AP preparatory classes lead to AP classes in grade 12, which prepare students to write the AP exams for possible university credits.
What should an AP STUDENT be like?
A successful AP learner is a self-directed, intellectually curious, critical thinker. This student has excellent learning skills and work habits, and consistently achieves outstanding academic results as indicated on their Grade 7 and Grade 8 report cards.
What does the AP PROGRAM OFFER?
AP Teachers at Marshall McLuhan develop their own enriched tasks, projects and learning materials for courses labelled “AP” and submit their syllabus for approval through a process called the AP Course Audit. This process ensures that each AP course meets specific standards as established by the Advanced Placement College Board. All strong academic students are encouraged to apply!
