Learning to read is a complicated process that requires a variety of skills, experiences and practice in many contexts. You already support this learning at home in your daily life. This ebook will provide a brief overview of early literacy skills and behaviours as well as offer some suggestions and resources for ways to be more involved in your child’s literacy journey. 

Moving from kindergarten into grade 1 is another transition in your child's life. As the curriculum becomes more academic there are increased expectations about literacy and numeracy learning. Please see the document for some tips to prepare for that transition through the summer.
