Math Pathways

Many students and parents have questions about the new grade 9 math curriculum.  In 2021, the Academic math (MPM 1D1) and Applied math (MFM 1P1) courses were replaced by destreamed math for Grade 9.  MTH 1W1 is for students at all levels and all AP students will be scheduled into separate AP sections of the MTH 1W1 course.

Please see the chart below to get a sense of possible pathways available for math.  Please note that the Ontario Secondary School Diploma requires students to complete 3 math courses before graduation.  College and universities only require Grade 12 math if it is an admissions requirement for a specific program.
