The aim of this website is to inform other Junior Cert students about the topic of human reproduction. On this website, you can discover lots of information about the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system, and fertilization. Check out the menu to see more content. There is a fun and games section where you can watch some cool and interesting videos about human reproduction in addition to the informational videos used on the other pages, a quiz, you can play with friends, games and puzzles and even a jam board where you can express your own thoughts, ideas, jokes, drawings, and observations. What is Human Reproduction?
Human reproduction is the way in which humans make more of themselves. Humans must reproduce to allow for the species to continue to live on. Humans reproduce sexually, meaning two parents are needed to reproduce and pass on their genes (units of DNA).
Human reproduction involves the joining of sex cells, also known as gametes to create a zygote. The male reproductive system produces a sex cell called 'sperm', and the female reproductive system produces a sex cell called the 'egg'. The zygote will eventually become an embryo, then fetus, and eventually a baby.
Half of the genes will come from the father and the other half from the mother, in this way genetic information is passed on. This baby will grow up to be an adult and the cycle will continue.
