The University of St Andrews is situated in northeast Fife, approximately a 1.5 hour drive from central Edinburgh. There are regular bus and rail connections from central Edinburgh to St Andrews, as well as the option of private transfer directly from Edinburgh Airport. Rail: Leuchars is the closest train station to St Andrews. Trains depart approximately every 30 minutes from central Edinburgh stations (Waverley and Haymarket) to Leuchars. There is a regular bus connection from Leuchars Station to St Andrews Bus Station (see map below). Should you be arriving into Edinburgh Airport, a tram goes directly from the airport to Haymarket Station and takes approximately 30 minutes.
Bus: The X59 bus connecting Edinburgh and St Andrews departs every hour from Edinburgh Bus Station.
Private Transfer/Shuttle: A number of companies (e.g. St Andrews Shuttle) offer private transfers from Edinburgh Airport to St Andrews. Prices start at £85 for 1-4 persons.
Accommodation will be provided to all workshop participants at Agnes Blackadder Hall for 4 nights (5–9 June; see map below). All rooms have a double bed suitable for single or double occupancy. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 10am. Agnes Blackadder Hall is a 18 minute walk from St Salvator's Quad, where the workshop will take place, and a 10 minute walk from St Andrews Bus Station.
All talks and discussion sessions will take place in School 5, St Salvator’s Quad (see map below). A public lecture by Prof. Steve Sherwood on Tuesday 7th June will take place in School 2, which is also located in St Salvator’s Quad.
Breakfast will be provided each morning at Agnes Blackadder Hall from 7-8.30am. Lunches and coffee breaks will be provided in Lower College Hall, St Salvator’s Quad.
On Monday of the workshop (6th June), a drinks & nibbles reception will be held from 5.30-7pm at the Wardlaw Museum followed by a workshop dinner at Doll's House (see map below). On Tuesday of the workshop (7th June), a drinks recpetion will be held from 7-8pm following the public lecture in Upper College Hall, St Salvator’s Quad.
