Any student who qualified during the 2023-2024 school year will be a part of the program this school year. Should you choose to recuse your child(ren) from the program, please contact Ms. Torres and Mr. Keitel. Students are identified as Gifted and Talented based on a variety of qualifications. These qualifications will be reassessed each school year and new students may be identified each year as Gifted and Talented. This year, the qualifications include, but are not limited to:
Student Grades
Standardized Test Scores (NJSLA, Start Strong Assessment, etc.)
Overall Student Performance
Students’ Reading Levels
Students’ Math Benchmark Assessments
Extracurricular Activities
The process for the Gifted & Talented program is as follows: Students are recommended by a teacher via the Teacher Recommendation Form, Mr. Keitel will then meet with the teacher to gather qualification data of the student (above). Once that meeting occurs, students will take the CogAT Assessment. Once the assessment is complete, all data will be evaluated. If they meet the required levels, a letter will be sent via email to the parents notifying them that based on the qualifications, their child is eligible for the Gifted & Talented Program. Students who have been identified as Gifted and Talented will continue to receive differentiated instruction within their academic classes as well as once a week BOOST pullouts. We look forward to working with teachers, students, and parents, to further advance our Gifted and Talented Program this school year.
