Welcome to the Lincoln Elementary School Media Center! My name is Crystal Waites, and I am proud to serve as the library media specialist here at LES. For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of leading our library program, but my journey at LES began 23 years ago when I first started teaching kindergarten, 1st grade, and 6th grade.

Working in the library has been a lifelong dream of mine, and in 2019, that dream became a reality. I absolutely love what I do! Every day, I get to engage with students of all grades and ages, helping them discover the joy and wonder of reading.

In addition to fostering a love for books, I’m passionate about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. I’m proud to advocate for STEAM initiatives at both the school and district levels. Here at LES, we have an amazing Makerspace Lab that gives students hands-on opportunities to explore and create. I also lead our Story Laboratory, where I blend science, technology, engineering, and math with storytelling to inspire curiosity and collaboration.

My goal is to provide every student with opportunities to think creatively, take risks without fear of failure, and develop independence as learners and problem-solvers. I am so excited to support and encourage our students as they explore, discover, and grow!
