Pre-Flight Safety Announcement [The following announcement will be made by the flight attendants at the beginning of the flight, as passengers are settling into their seats.]
Good [morning/afternoon/evening], ladies and gentlemen. Welcome aboard United Airlines flight [flight number] bound for [destination]. Your safety is our top priority, so please give us your attention for a few moments as we go over the safety features of this Boeing 737 aircraft.
Seat Belts:
We remind you that federal regulations require all passengers to comply with illuminated signs, posted placards, and crew instructions, including the requirement to fasten your seat belt at all times while seated.
To fasten your seat belt, insert the metal end into the buckle, and pull the strap to tighten. To release, lift the top portion of the buckle.
Emergency Exits:
This aircraft is equipped with eight emergency exits. Two doors in the front, four window exits over the wings, and two doors in the rear. Please take a moment to locate the nearest exit to your seat, keeping in mind that it may be behind you.
In case of an evacuation, leave all your belongings behind and follow the illuminated aisle path to the nearest exit.
Life Vests:
In the unlikely event of a water landing, life vests are located under your seat. Remove the vest from its pouch and place it over your head. Fasten the waist strap and pull it tight. Inflate the vest by pulling down on the red tabs or by blowing into the tubes at shoulder level.
Do not inflate the vest inside the aircraft. There is also a whistle and a light to attract attention.
Oxygen Masks:
If the cabin pressure changes, oxygen masks will drop from above your seat. Remain seated and pull the mask firmly toward you to start the flow of oxygen. Place the mask over your nose and mouth, secure it with the elastic band, and breathe normally.
Make sure to secure your own mask before assisting others, including children.
Electronic Devices:
We remind you that the use of portable electronic devices is prohibited during takeoff, landing, and whenever the seat belt sign is illuminated. Large electronic devices should be stowed under the seat or in the overhead compartments.
Smoking Policy:
Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is not permitted onboard this aircraft. Federal law prohibits tampering with, disabling, or destroying lavatory smoke detectors.
Thank You:
Thank you for your attention. We encourage you to review the safety information card located in the seat pocket in front of you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of our flight attendants. We hope you have a pleasant flight with us.
