Welcome to TROJANs Thrive: A Midday Mentorship Program at EAST Middle School
We are excited to invite you to participate in an extraordinary opportunity combining play, healthy eating, and meaningful connections.
The Trojans Thrive program, hosted by the East Middle's Health & Wellbeing Team, is gearing up for a fantastic first season this winter.
About TROJANs THRIVE
Trojans Thrive is a mentorship program designed to create a vibrant, positive, and engaging school environment.
By joining forces with East Middle's noon duty staff and support team, we aim to achieve the following objectives:
Connection & Play: Ensure that all Trojans experience connection during lunch through conversation, games, activities, and play.
Healthy Eating Habits: Encourage healthy eating habits by modeling nutritious meal choices in the cafeteria.
Positive Relationships: Build strong connections between students and community mentors, fostering a sense of belonging and support.
Physical Activity: Increase physical activity and movement during lunch, whether outside or in the gym, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Behavioral Improvement: Decrease behavioral issues in the cafeteria, gym, library lounge and outside, contributing to a more harmonious school environment.
How TROJANS THRIVE Works
Eat: Mentors act as role models for healthy habits by eating cafeteria meals alongside students. Demonstrating balanced eating choices has proven to positively influence students' dietary preferences.
Play: A variety of activities, both indoor and outdoor, are available for students and mentors to choose from. These include board games, cards, crafts, and traditional sports like soccer, basketball, and football.
Connect: Building positive relationships is a cornerstone of Trojans Thrive. Mentors engage in conversations, actively listen to students' stories, and share their own experiences, fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
Become a TROJANS THRIVE Mentor
We invite individuals who are passionate about contributing to the growth and success of East Middle students to join Trojans Thrive as mentors.
By dedicating just one hour per week, you can:
Help Trojans thrive academically and emotionally.
Engage in exciting activities and play.
Promote healthy eating habits.
Support a happy and healthy East Middle community.
Trojans Thrive happens five days a week and are divided into three seasons:
Fall Season: Start of School Year - Winter Break
Winter Season: Winter Break - Spring Break (starts the week of January 8th, 2024)
Spring Season: Spring Break - End of School Year
Mentors commit to one season where they will mentor for one 40-minute lunch a week.
