Conclusion
It has taken me approximately 8 semesters(including summers) to complete my MLIS degree through San Jose State University. I did take a semester off to focus on professional development and my trip to Guatemala for Librarians Without Borders. Otherwise, I would have completed my library degree earlier. These last few years as a part-time student has allowed me to explore various professional pathways in librarianship through internships and library-related work. Due to these experiences, I have a more informed outlook on the job market and what I enjoy most about library work.
My professional goals have shifted from simply working in a high school as a librarian to a broader perspective on my career, which can mean transitioning into full-time academic librarianship or in a service-related public/special librarianship context. Since most of my previous career before changing to librarianship was in education I know I want to still work with students in a learning environment. This can translate into a multitude of possibilities, which I think is an overall good thing. The important principle I have learned in this transition that just because I have left one industry does not mean I lose my identity but only magnify what I know about who I am and what I can contribute to the world.
Affirmation
Every competency, my introduction and conclusion is my own original work and put together by myself. Any collaborative or team evidence does not reveal names other than my own. All work that involve group projects I have respectfully omitted any names for privacy.
