RQ1- Carter. How does plastic find its way to the ocean?
Most plastic gets to the ocean by rainwater and wind which carries plastic into drains and eventually gets to the ocean. Most plastic pollution starts from people Littering, poor plastic management or storms like hurricanes and tornadoes. A Lot of plastic can get into the ocean when a tsunami comes.Usually when it comes it storms its way through lots of objects and when all of that water comes back it usually brings back a lot of waste like cars which is bad because it's full of petrol and gas which is so bad because rubbish and a bunch of things that is really bad for the environment. Especially cars because they're full of petrol which ruins coral reefs and kills lots of sea life.
RQ2-SuyogWhat are the long term consequences of plastic pollution in the ocean?
The long term consequences of plastic pollution in the ocean potentially serve and can impact our environment, marine life and human health in a number of ways. Some of the consequences are- Global impact - Plastic pollution in the ocean is a global problem that affects every ocean and country. The plastic waste can travel long distances, polluting coastlines and harming marine life. Other one is Environment-Plastic also harms the environment through plastic pollution because plastics are essentially made from oil and gas.Economic- Plastic pollution can have economic impacts such as decreased fish population, which can lead to a decline in the availability and increases in the cost of seafood. This can impact the businesses that rely on the ocean.
RQ3-SuyogHow does plastic pollution in the ocean affect the food chain and our food supply?
Plastic waste in the ocean can have a significant impact on the food chain and our food supply. As small animals consume plastic it accumulates in their body, and as larger animals eat these animals the plastic accumulates in their bodies as well. This can lead to plastic and chemicals being present in the fish and seafood. Plastic can be ingested by marine animals such as fish, seabirds and sea turtles who mistake it for food. These animals can become sick or even die as a result of the plastic clogging their digestive system. Plastic pollution in the ocean can have a wide range of negative impacts on the food chain and food supply from harming marine animals and to potentially poisoning health risk for a human who consumes contaminated food.
RQ4-Carter-How does plastic pollution in the ocean affect the quality of sea water?ecosystems like coral reefs and seagrass beds. These combined impacts threaten the overall health and balance of the marine environment.
RQ5-Suyog-How does plastic pollution affect marine life and Ecosystem?
Plastic waste in the ocean can harm marine life and their home.It can cause animals to get trapped or eat plastic which can make them sick or die. Plastic can also contain harmful chemicals that can harm marine creatures' bodies.Furthermore, plastic pollution can damage and destroy habitats, such as coral reefs and seagrass beds which are important breeding and feeding grounds for many marine species. It is crucial that we take a step to reduce plastic waste and prevent it from entering our oceans to protect the health of marine ecosystems and the organisms that inhabit them. To protect marine life and their homes we need to stop littering and reduce
Our use of plastic. We can also prevent it by making small changes in our daily habits such as using reusable bags and bottles. We can make a significant difference in protecting the oceans and the creatures that call them home.
Thesis question Suyog-How should negative impacts of plastic in our oceans be mitigated?
Thesis statement-The negative impacts of plastics in our ocean can be mitigated through humans taking individual action.
Explanation-Plastic pollution is a big problem for our ocean harming marine life and the environment. We can help by taking action individually . We can use less plastic by choosing reusable things instead of disposable ones. It's important to throw away plastic properly and recycle whenever it's possible so it doesn't end up in the ocean. We can also join or organise beach cleanups to remove plastic trash from the shorelines. By talking to others and spreading the word we can get more people involved in protecting our oceans. Supporting businesses that use eco-friendly materials and packaging is another way to make a difference. By doing these things together we can make a big difference in our ocean to make it cleaner and safer for everyone.
Plastic pollution in the ocean is a serious problem that harms the environment, marine life and human health. To address this issue in the ocean we can take individual action. We can take individual action by reducing the use of plastic, properly disposing of plastic waste and participating in beach cleanups. We can also help by choosing reusable items and recycling them properly, we can also prevent plastic from ending up in the ocean. Supporting businesses that use eco-friendly materials is another way to make a positive impact. We can also encourage others to join in these efforts to make our ocean a better place.
