The Totara Tree
The Totara Tree is a species of tree, often seen growing in the Urewera. They grow relatively slow, but can grow for up to a thousand years! Reaching up to 30 meters high! They are also known for their ability to grow very straight.
Their wood is very tough and resistant to rotting, due to this, Totara wood is commonly used to create fences and other kinds of structures like boats.
You may not have known that the Totara tree is capable of growing berries and seeds called podocarpus seeds. They are famous for their vibrant colours and unique shape.
