Introduction

Gaming is very popular among children. In this inquiry I will be going over whether or not we should use it to help out our education. I have found that gaming can help our learning. I will prove this throughout my presentation.

What is gaming?

Gaming is interacting with a program displayed on a screen using different inputs such as, a controller, a keyboard and mouse, a joystick or your phone. The screen displaying the video game is usually a tv, monitor, phone screen or a vr headset. These video games can be played online with other users around the world, either battling against each other or working together.

gaming constantly can ruin your later life by distracting you and demotivating you and you can become addicted which will most likely stop you from attending school or work and not getting the education or money you need. This will affect your later life a lot considering you are going to have no money.

Video games can give you an unrealistic way of seeing life. For example, Call of Duty gives you an unrealistic way of seeing life by making you think people go around shooting other people to entertain themselves. This can be bad for your health and possibly get you in trouble if you copy what some games do.

Some video games like minecraft can be used to develop skills such as designing buildings and building them to the measurements. There are other games like this that aren't as entertaining to play as minecraft but minecraft could be a better option than other games such as sketchup because minecraft is played for non education purposes so people would know how to use it and would find it more fun to use than other programs.

Video games can become very addicting when you're fighting other people online and you can't seem to win, so you keep playing each round thinking you're going to win, but you don't win. Another way of getting addicted is if a game is truly too fun to stop playing. Becoming addicted to video games is not hard. You can become so addicted to the point where you’re playing until you're peeing your pants and eating the buttons off of your keyboard, 8,5% of american kids are badly addicted to gaming. Or you are minorly addicted where you still have a social life and still eat normally and go to school and live normally while gaming in your free time.

Gaming can be quite useful for some subjects such as engineering or design. Making a game remake of your favourite game through a program like scratch or snap! Could be a good way to learn how to make games as well as playing them as testing them throughout making the game.

Conclusion

In conclusion gaming can be used in multiple ways to help improve the chance of children being engaged in their learning. This can be done with a load of different apps and games that are used for entertainment purposes, so the kids will be more excited to learn, while using these games.
