MEET MRS. GOODE

Hi! My name is Kathryn Goode. This is my fifth year teaching English at Taylor County High School. I also coach the Mock Trial team, assist with the Drama Club, and co-sponsor the Beta Club. At home, I'm a momma to two little boys and have two black and white cats named Harrison Ford and Sally. I like to read books and drink coffee.

As a high schooler, I struggled with writing assignments, crying over even one-page essays. For some reason, I decided to be an English major in college anyway. During my time at Eastern Kentucky University, I worked as a writing consultant in the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity and learned about the magic of having a writing community. I then dedicated my career to helping students feel more confident approaching writing. I wrote my Senior Thesis about the impact instructor feedback can have on student confidence with writing. As a teacher, I have been fortunate to get to teach composition-focused courses: Creative Writing, AP Language & Composition, and Dual Credit Composition. Recently, I completed my Master's degree in English through Morehead State University. One of the biggest highlights of this program for me was getting to participate in their online writing project. All of this goes to say, I really love helping students become better writers.

One of my primary goals for this year is to build better writing community in my classroom, which to me means better, more organic peer feedback throughout the writing process. By the time students leave my room, I want them to feel confident with writing. Period.
