Entry Rules
This competition is only open to amateur sewists / students. Anyone that makes garments (of any type) for commercial or trade is not eligible to enter.
The entrant must be the designer and maker of the entry.
There will be limited entry numbers for each category. The entry form will cut off a category when the maximun number is reached.
No more than 3 people can collaborate on an entry. If the entry is awarded a prize, the prize will be split between each person.
To be eligible to enter the school categories you must be a registered secondary school student within a Wellington, Greater Wellington or Kapiti Region School.
Tertiary students must be registered at a Wellington region Tertiary Institution.
Anyone residing in the Wellington and Greater Wellington regions is eligible for entry in the open categories.
Minimum age for entrants is 12 years old. Entrants under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
A non-refundable entry fee of $20 per entry for secondary school students, $30 tertiary student entrants and $40 per entry for open entrants is payable at the time of entry. You will receive a confirmation email after your completed entry is received. Entry fees will only be refunded if the show is cancelled.
Tawa College students on a Year 11 to 13 Fashion & Textiles course have automatic entry as part of their curriculum.
All completed entry forms must be received by 31st May 2024.
An entry form and fee must be completed for each individual entry if you are making more than one entry.
Personal photography is strictly forbidden at any time during the show, for the safety of entrants and models.
We will endeavor to have a professional photographer who will take a photograph of each entry, and photographs may be purchased from the photographer.
This event will be filmed and/or photographed. By entering you / your model give consent for these images to be taken and used for publicity relating to future Tawa College Fashion & Wearable Arts Shows.
If you are awarded the winner of a category, runner up, or highly commended you / your model give consent for images to be used for publicity by the sponsors, relating to their sponsorship of the Tawa College Fashion & Wearble Arts Show 2024.
Prizes are subject to change depending on the number of entries received.
Garments that have been entered into other competitions are ineligible for entry.
Work that has been exhibited is eligible for entry.
You cannot enter the same garment into more than one category.
If you have more than one garment you are required to have a different model for each garment.
You must provide your own model/models, and will be repsonsible for your own styling on the show nights.
Organisers reserve the right to re-categorise a garment or to omit it from the event.
Organisers reserve the right to combine categories or to omit categories if there are 3 or fewer entries into any category.
The judges’ decision is final, and no feedback will be given on decisions.
You and your model are expected to take part in two full-dress rehearsals prior to the event at Tawa College, within the two weeks prior to the show. (All details and timing TBC).
Some pre-judging will be done during rehearsals, so judges can handle the garments. No conversation between judges and an entrant / or any other party is allowed.
Garments will remain at the college after the first dress rehearsal until after the final show.
Your garment must be clearly labelled with your entry details on the hangar or some other means, whilst being stored at Tawa College.
The college will not be liable for any damage while on the school premises.
Failure to attend the dress rehearsals will result in your entry being removed from the show.
By entering the 2024 Tawa College Fashion & Wearable Arts Show, the entrant accepts all conditions of entry and declares that all details you have provided are true and correct. If found to be incorrect any prize monies will not be awarded and a new winner will be announced.
