Week Six - Learning Tasks

COMPLETE THE ACTIVITIES BELOW THROUGHOUT THE WEEK

Maths

This week's maths learning focus is 'Time'.

If you need help with any activity, please do message me, or have a look at this 'help' sheet to break down doubles and skip counting.

  • Login to Matific and complete some of your maths activities

Reading

  • Daily reading - read a book of your choice from home.

  • Read an article of your choice and complete the 'Activity sheet for Junior Journal Articles' shared with you on Seesaw.

  • Record yourself reading on Seesaw for Mrs Melton and myself to hear. We would love to hear you read!

Writing

  • Keep a diary detailing what you get up to each day over lockdown

Share you diary entries, creative stories, comics and character descriptions with us on Seesaw so we can enjoy them too!

Spelling

  • Keep practicing your spelling lists in your spelling books

(If you do not have your spelling book at home use this link to take you to the Essential Spelling Lists)

  • Get someone in your home to test your spelling at the end of the week

  • If you get any wrong, relearn them the following week along with new words to learn (up to 10 words per week in total)

  • Log in to STEPS to practice your words online if you want to. Our class login is here.

Topic

This week's topic is 'Heroes in our community'

  • Maybe you would like to do some yoga?

  • Maybe you would like to have a boogie?

Daily challenge

  • Complete one of the 30 day lego challenges. If you don't have lego you could draw it or build ot out of other materials.

Remember to send us your daily challenges on our class Facebook page or on Seesaw. We love seeing all of your creations!

Mindfulness

  • Spend 10 minutes each day in a quiet place. Centre yourself - straight spine, soft belly. Make sure you are comfortable.

  • Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Just like we do in class. Focus on each breath and track it as it goes in and out. Notice your breathing and remember that if your mind wanders, you just silently say ‘wandering’ and bring all your attention back to your breathing.

  • Let yourself sit, breathe and just ‘be’’.

  • Doing this each day will help you stay calm, relaxed and peaceful - just like it does in class!

Learning Through Play & Life Skills

  • Compete against yourself in our Room 5 Points Challenge

  • Choose an activity from the 42 Challenges sheet. How many can you complete?

  • Help with the cooking - make a recipe you haven’t done before.

  • Clean / sort / organise / tidy something - check with someone at home first to make sure you’re allowed to do it!

  • Weed the garden.

  • Tidy your bedroom.

  • Do the laundry - wash, hang out to dry, fold, (iron if you’re allowed or need to) and put the clothes away.

If you have access to a workbook, complete Chapters 3 and 4 this week at your own pace on a separate piece of paper. Please do not write in the workbooks or complete any more than that at this stage.

Thanks Room 5 :)
