Welcome to Mrs. Murphy 3rd Grade

I am so excited to welcome you and your student to my third grade class. This is my 8th year living in Weaverville. My husband and I love it here. We enjoy kayaking, hiking, and fishing. We have three dogs and two cats who keep us laughing at home. I have been teaching for 20 years, and I look forward to every year.

This is going to be a fun year with lots of learning and new adventures. My main focus is to assist your student to grow both academically and emotionally so they can be their best self by the end of the school year!

There are many ways to help your child to be successful in school. One way is to give lots of praise for work well done! Another is to read with your child and be an active participant in your child’s education.

Homework will be at least (20)minutes of reading per night which can be done in the after-school program or at home. Students will be going to reading groups according to their ability and more information about that will be coming soon from your child’s reading teacher.
