Taunton Public Schools has begun the hybrid phase of in-person learning. Students in grades kindergarten, first, second, fifth, eighth, and ninth grades as well as Taunton Alternative High School all returned to class on October 26. These students were broken into cohorts A and B, with students in cohort A attending in-person on Monday and Tuesday and cohort B attending school on Thursday and Friday. All students are remote on Wednesdays.
"Overall, the hard work and patience is paying off," Mr. John Cabral, TPS Superintendent of Schools said in a weekly PSA announcement.
The gradual phase-in of in-person learning continued on November 9 with cohort A students in grades third, fourth, sixth, and seventh.
"The safety and cleaning measures in place throughout our schools are proving to be effective and by following the health and safety guidelines from our local and state health officials, we can all do our part to ensure that our schools remain open for in-person learning," Mr. Cabral said.
At THS, sophomores in cohort A will return on November 16 with cohort B following on November 19. Juniors in cohort A will return on November 30 with cohort B returning on December 3. Lastly seniors in cohort A will return on December 7 with cohort B returning on December 10. Cohort A at each level will be in-person Monday and Tuesday; Cohort B will attend in-person Thursday and Friday. Both groups will be remote on Wednesdays. Additionally, some students have chosen to be remote all the time; they ae in cohort.
Teachers will continue to teach all groups everyday.
School began on September 14 remotely for all students.
