(SEM) Research Group
Aims and Scope
The Smart Energy & Mobility (SEM) Research Group at Turkish-German University conducts interdisciplinary research on the planning, integration, management, and optimization of smart buildings, intelligent lighting systems, renewable energy and energy storage systems, smart grids, and electric mobility, with a particular focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and low-carbon energy systems.
The group employs energy management, mathematical optimization, artificial intelligence, forecasting, data analytics, intelligent control, techno-economic analysis, and life-cycle assessment as its core methodological approaches. Its overarching objectives are to improve energy efficiency, flexibility, resilience, and environmental sustainability; facilitate the integration of renewable energy resources; and support the transition toward low-carbon energy and mobility systems.
