This week, students will continue the argumentative writing unit. Students will be able to identify and explain a claim, supporting evidence, counterclaim, and a logical conclusion. 

Students will also begin rough drafts of their personal argumentative essays, utilizing the argumentative techniques listed above.

This week, for grammar, students will learn how to use semicolons. 

In class, students are learning how to use semicolons to make writing clearer when lists become complicated. 

When items in a list already contain commas, writers use semicolons to separate the larger parts of the list so the reader can easily understand each item.

Students will have a quiz over semicolons on Friday, March 13th.

When IXLs are assigned, students are given class time to work on them. But if they do not finish in the allotted class time, they should work on them at home.
