  1. How will lunch time work?

    • Students will wear masks in two defined lines to pickup lunches. Salads and drinks will be served, rather than self-serve. Social distancing will be maintained by utilizing all areas of the TSA Cafe' and alternate areas on campus.

  2. Will students be required to dress out for PE?

    • Students will be required to dress out ONLY for PE classes conducted in the weight room for safety purposes. Students will wear masks when in the locker room.

  3. Are students allowed to monogram their masks?

    • Yes, students may monogram their masks as long as the monogram or embroidery includes the student's name or initials only. No other words or phrases are allowed.

    • The colors allowed for monograms or embroidery are blue, black, gray, white, or gold.

    • Additional details about the mask policy, including parameters for masks provided by students, are available in the "Practicing Prevention" section of the COVID Safety Plan.

  4. In which phase of the reopening plan will TSA begin the 2020-2021 school year?

    • Tattnall will begin the 2020-2021 school year in Phase 1 of the Reopening Plan.

  5. What happens if a student tests COVID positive or is exposed to a COVID positive individual?

    • We will continue to follow the current CDC guidelines and students that test positive will be sent home for the recommended quarantine period. A return to school prior to the end of the quarantine period can only take place with a doctor's clearance to return to school.

  6. Will there be a revised sick day policy?

    • The school will not make any new provisions on the numbers of days a student may miss a class. This has always been left to the school’s discretion on allowing credit for students who miss more days than allowable.

    • Parents are encouraged to monitor their children’s health diligently and keep them home if they are running a fever. The operative concept is that “we’re all working together to protect our school community.”

    • Teachers are required to post any class/lecture notes, assignments for all classes in which a student may have been absent.

  7. Will students change classrooms?

    • This is based on the current phase we are in. We are beginning the year in Phase 1 and students in grades 4-12 will change classrooms while wearing masks.

    • The following protocols will be in place to promote social distancing during class changing periods:

      • Students will be required to wear masks during all exchange periods.

      • Students will not use lockers to alleviate hallway congestion.

      • Traffic will be monitored by teachers to keep students from congregating in the hallway.

      • Markers placed six feet apart will be utilized to promote distancing.

  8. Will students have assigned lockers?

    • At this time, students will not use lockers in an effort to alleviate hallway congestion.

  9. How will Chapel be conducted?

    • The school remains dedicated to its mission of providing a college-based education in a Christian environment. Therefore, Chapel is considered to be an integral component of the school’s curriculum.

    • We are making the following adjustments to our Chapel schedule.

      • There will be no All-School Chapel until further notice.

      • The Lower School will alternate Chapel between the lower elementary grades (K3-1st) and the upper elementary grades (2nd-5th)

        • When the group is not in Trojan Hall for Chapel, they will have a Chapel meeting in their classrooms.

        • This will run from 10:00 - 10:30 am.

      • Middle School and Upper School will meet for Chapel bi-weekly. We will continue to have small group meetings on the alternating week.

      • 4th Period on Wednesday runs from 10:47 to 11:57 to accommodate Chapel.

        • Middle School Chapel will be conducted from 10:47-11:13

          1. Following their service, middle school students will report to 4th period.

        • Upper School Chapel will be conducted from 11:31-11:57.

          1. They will be in 4th period prior to Chapel.

        • The janitorial staff will “spray down” the area between all services.

        • Middle and Upper School will still conduct small group meetings on alternating weeks.

  10. Can students wear gaiter or buff style masks?

    • A gaiter or buff style mask that covers the lower portion of the face is permitted if they are a solid color (blue, black, gray, or white) or styles purchased or issued through Tattnall Square Academy .

    • Additional details about the mask policy, including parameters for masks provided by students, are available in the "Practicing Prevention" section of the COVID Safety Plan.

  11. Can masks be any color blue?

    • The school would like to encourage families who use blue, non-issued masks to choose a Royal Blue mask, but this will not be mandated.

  12. How will the school handle shared classroom equipment?

    • There are certain classes in which students use shared equipment; e.g., science labs. Teachers have been instructed to disinfect between uses and between classes using the same equipment.

  13. Are teachers and students allowed to wear face shields instead of masks?

    • For teachers, they are allowed to use a face shield. However, they will need to wear a mask when in close contact with a student.

    • For students, they are allowed to wear a face shield IN ADDITION TO an approved face mask.
