Students are assessed on four criteria. Each criterion is worth 25% of each unit/quarter grade. The criteria are:
Physical performance
Knowledge and understanding
Health and well-being
Sports leadership
Unlike other subjects, PE does not have letter grades or percentages. In the LMS grade book, parents and students see numbers linked to the criteria listed above. This system indicates if a student is failing to engage (*), progressing (PG), achieving (AH), or exceeding (ED) for each of the four criteria. Student reflections in the reports highlight their learning and understanding of their continued development. For each reporting period, students and parents will see their individual criteria grade based on a 1-4 scale in the LMS grade book plus an overall grade with ED, AH, or PG on their end report.
How do the numbers work?
4: Exceeding (ED)
3: Achieving (AH)
2: Progressing (PG)
1: Failure to engage ( * )
Effort grades:
Each quarter, each student receives effort grades alongside their PE criteria grades. These effort grades are:
1. Outstanding
2. Good
3. Satisfactory
4. Poor
5. Unsatisfactory
Attendance:
Students should attend all classes. Those with less than 75% attendance may be at risk of failing.
Homework:
Students may receive short homework assignments to assist with their learning of key content being covered in class. These will be set on Google Classroom and graded accordingly.
