A Tapestry, the counselors are committed to helping every student through the college application process. Through crew lessons, individual meetings, and senior seminar, counselors are available every step of the way.
We help support students through the various following components of a college application:
Individual Student Information
Students will complete online through the systems below or through individual college websites.
Teacher Recommendations
Students are required to ask 2 academic (English, social studies, math, science, Spanish) teachers for letters of recommendation. These should be teachers who can speak highly of the students academic habits and skills in the classroom.
Students should ask teachers in September of their senior year.
Counselor Recommendations
School counselors will write a letter of recommendation for each student. Using their transcript, resume and parent brag sheet, counselors will provide a holistic look at the students' years of high school including their academics, character, resume highlights, and parent input.
Transcripts/Report Cards
Counselors will submit all transcripts and report cards on behalf of the student.
College Essay
Students will be assigned the college essay in their ELA 12 class. The counselors and ELA teacher are available to provide support and feedback to help students produce a high-quality essay for their applications.
Financial Aid
The counselors host a financial aid night each fall for parents to come in and complete their FAFSA and TAP applications with local experts from financial aid offices.
Counselors will also share resources and reminders throughout the school year.
Say Yes Application
The counselors will host a "Say Yes" night each fall for parents to fully understand this scholarship opportunity.
Counselors will help each student complete their Say Yes application in school.
