Never Bred

Indigo (Indy, Pete, Peter, DD Pete) was our first border collie and sport dog and wow did we get lucky! We would not be breeding border collies or involved in dog sports if I wasn't for her. But she was so much more to us. Indy was a big part of our family.

She changed our lives for the better in many ways.  We got her 3 years before Finley was born and was with us for so many life changes - marriage, 2 kids, grad school, beginning of careers, moves across the country multiple times and many new puppies.

We could  not have asked for a better companion or sport dog.  There is not one single thing that would’ve made her better. She was perfection. She was the best puppy and kid raiser. Always kind and fair. She was also an amazing flyball dog, running 3.7 to 3.8 in the pack when we knew very little about training. We traveled all over North America playing flyball.  I wish there were more disc options when she was young because she would’ve been a great disc dog as well.  She humored us as we tried various sports including lure coursing, nosework, sheepherding and barn hunt. She was incredibly athletic and fast.

She never did anything wrong. Never chewed a bed or stole anything. The absolute opposite of a naughty dog. She was always good and everything was serious business, but she was also so funny. If she was a person, she would have had a dry sense of humor.

We see small glimpses of her in her niece Nyx and her daughter Sol and Nyx’s other kids and even Sol’s perfect baby boys.

Indy was truly a gift  of a lifetime and will always be remembered as “the only good dog”.

We’ve never had another dog that was quite as perfect and we probably never will.  Thanks Sharon Wiksten and Kelli Herbst
