Hello all, my name is Mr. Karl Schulze, and I will also be Intro to Engineering teacher. I am a New Orleans native and recently moved to Hammond. I am married to my wife April, and we have 2 cat children. This will be my first full year teaching, and I am very excited to be working with you all.
I attended Louisiana State University in 2014 and started working with an organization called the Society of Peer Mentors. We were a group that would increase interest and retention into the STEM majors at the K-12 levels as well as the college level. I specifically worked with the robotics mentoring section of SPM. We would go to local schools in the area and assist with their robotics programs as well as assist in local robotics competitions. I eventually worked my way up as the Robotics Chair of the organization, training and assigning robotics mentors to schools
I graduated from LSU in 2018 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Robotics Engineering. After college, I spent time working as a Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere for about 2 years. I was in charge of the manufacturing process in the Paint department. Then I decided to make the transition to teaching.
I started at Hammond High in January of 2021 working part time as the IB Physics teacher. Now I will be teaching IB Physics as well as Intro to Engineering. I am very excited to share my knowledge and experience with you all and look forward to a great school year!
