Kima Davis' Speech
Tonight, members of each of
these performance groups have returned home to celebrate and
bring awareness to the importance of music program on our
school campus. Music is a common language of life that moves
beyond all social barriers to bring us together. Music gives
students an outlet and a place of belonging. Music brought all of
these alumni here tonight. We need a revival of our band
programs in our Hammond schools now more than ever to give
our students the same opportunities we had in our times. The
band is the rhythm that the heart of our school dances too.
Without it, the life of our culture will fade. Now, please
welcome to the field the Alumni Torettes. Get Ready Tors as
the ladies and the band throw back to 1987 with a Hammond
High classic.
