While instrumentation techniques for pavements and geotechnical projects are similar, there's a practical difference in measurement procedures. Geotechnical applications use static performance response measurements, while pavements use dynamic measurements. The success of an instrumentation program for researchers, consultants, contractors, or asset managers depends on the selection of instrumentation, installation techniques, data collection system, and data management. This sub-committee aims to share knowledge and understanding of traditional and innovative instrumentation technologies in both pavement and geotechnical applications.Â
