PubAlert! Journal Article Published
Excited to share my first, first author journal article was just published with Applied Ergonomics. The article titled, Differences in neural strategies explain exoskeleton-related benefits in performance over time during complex visuomotor wiring tasks discusses the impacts of exoskeleton use on wearers during a sustained cognitive task that also required visual search and motor movement! This is a part of my dissertation that wouldn't have been possible without my mentors, co-authors, friends, and family!
📅 March 2025: 📍Toronto, Canada
Poster with Merck at HFES Healthcare
I had the opportunity to intern at Merck Research Laboratory in Fall 2024 and have learned so much! While I couldn’t attend the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 2025 - Healthcare Conference in person in Toronto, Canada, I’m proud and excited to share that the work I did with my mentors was accepted for the Research Poster sessions!
Here are the details to our work and the session: Link to HFES-HC Poster
📅 January 2025: 📍Madison, Wisconsin
Moved to UW-Madison
After wrapping up my internship at Merck, I've moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the semester! The NeuroErgonomics Lab made the move here in Fall 2023, and I'm excited to be a part of it in person again! I do miss TAMU, but it's awesome to be back with old friends. I'll be here until Summer, finishing up my final data collection. Grateful for the support from both Dr. Mehta and Dr. Pagilla! Excited for this period with 5 amazing UG Research students at UW-Madison - Sam, Victor, Aaron, Sadie, and Donghoon who will also be discussing results from this study during the UW UG Research Symposium 2025. Looking forward to exploring Madison, working on new projects, trying some of the best cheese curds and, exploring new hiking trails!
📅 September 2024: 📍Phoenix, Arizona
ASPIRE HFES 2024
Presented at the ASPIRE Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 2024 Annual Meeting!
📅 August 2024: 📍Rahway, New Jersey
Will be starting my co-op with Merck!
I'm thrilled to share that I will be a PhD Research Intern at the Merck Research Laboratories, starting this August! Super excited to see what the future holds! This opportunity represents a significant step in my academic and professional journey, and I'm looking forward to the challenges and growth ahead.
📅 August 6, 2024: 📍 Madison, Wisconsin
Americal Society of Biomechanics - Annual Meeting 2024
I recently had the opportunity to present my extended findings on the impact of soft passive low back exoskeletons in emergency medical services. This research is a key component of my dissertation, that focuses on human-exoskeleton interaction. My study highlighted that the effects of exoskeletons vary significantly based on the specific demands of different tasks! Therefore highlighting the need for more contextual HEI research!

4th IEEE International Conference on Human-Machine Systems
Super excited to have presented our work on assessing the use of soft low back exoskeletons for the emergency medical service sector! Our work is driven by the concerning statistics of work-related injuries within the emergency medical services sector, particularly those affecting the lower back. About 2 million EMTs are catering to 22 million patients each year. This huge number of injuries in this small population is already a matter that we need to look into because it is three times the national average across any occupation. Although current mitigation strategies include inventions such as automatic stretchers, slip bands, training, etc, these aren’t effective as the injuries are not just happening, but the number itself is extremely high! We thank the Cy-Fair Fire Department for their unwavering support and help with the study!
📅 Summer 2024: Graduate Research Grant Award
Awarded the prestigious 2024 Mechanical Engineering Graduate Summer Research Grant to fund my pilot investigation to understand how users adapt to exoskeleton use. With ARP UG scholars Jimit Mahadik, Samuel Nuenez, and Aline Moller, we hope to contribute to fundamental research aiding the safe and effective integration of exoskeletons in the workplace. Jimit, Samuel and Aline will also be presenting each of their independent research on this project at the LAUNCH UG Research Symposium!
📅 October 25, 2023: 📍 Washinton, DC
HFES 67th Annual Meeting and Exhibition
Recently presented and discussed part of my second dissertation study, "Passive Shoulder Exoskeleton Use over Days during a Variable Visuomotor Wiring Task". We saw differences in neural strategy that aided cognitive performance associated with exoskeleton use!
📅 Summer 2023: Participated in the 1st ASTM Exo Game 📍 Preston, UK
Tiago Gunter, Eshan Manchanda, Adam Thompson, and I participated in the first ASTM International Exo Games competition held in August 2023 in England where we proposed a soft low-back exo suit design for EMT applications! The EMT needs such as lifting beyond permissible limits and awkward postures due to uncertainty in environmental requirements during patient handling and rescue inspired our design!

📅 November 2022 - January 2023: Successfully concluded data collection in collaboration with the Cy-Fair Fire Department!
Grateful for the opportunity and eager to explore the potential of exoskeleton use in emergency medical services! Being part of research that supports such a vital profession is truly an honor!
📅 October 25, 2022: 📍 Atlanta, GA
HFES 66th Annual Meeting and Exhibition
Presented part of my work "Neural, Muscular, and Perceptual responses with Shoulder Exoskeleton use over Days", focusing on how user's adapted to the passive shoulder exoskeleton over time! The journal paper is now published!
📅 July 28, 2022: 📍 New York City, NY
Neuroergonomics Conference & NYC Neuromodulation
Selected for highlight presentation for part of my research on "Neural, Muscular, and Perceptual responses with Shoulder Exoskeleton use over days", comparing how the effects vary between tasks requiring only physical vs. physical and cognitive demands conference in July 2023! Interestingly, sex differences were more pronounced with dual-task paradigms! The journal paper is now published!
