Congratulations to Ashley Lubben! Ashley is an undergraduate research assistant with the TaSSC and has accepted a summer research internship with Carrollton Springs Changes in Plano, TX. She will work in their Help for Heroes® program, which provides mental health care for active duty and retired military personnel, veterans, first responders, and other high-risk frontline professionals. Dr. Vujanovic presented at the 13th annual Psychiatry Update Conference hosted by the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX. Her presentation was entitled “Posttraumatic stress and alcohol use: Interventions for firefighters.”
Dr. Vujanovic was an invited panelist for the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health. The conference was titled “Public Response to Human Trafficking: A Look-Back and a Step Forward.” Her presentation was entitled “Applying telemental health services for adults experiencing human trafficking.”

We would like to thank Dr. Amit Berstein, the Director of the Observing Minds Lab and the Moments of Refuge Project at the University of Haifa, for taking the time to present and discuss his recent work regarding the East African asylum-seeker community in Israel, as well as the development and study of Mindfulness-Based Trauma Recovery for Refugees (MBTR-R), a trauma-sensitive and socioculturally-adapted mindfulness- and compassion-based intervention for refugees.
