What ages can participate in the camp?
This program is designed specifically for youth ages 9 to 12. We’ve tailored the activities and learning experiences to best suit this age group for a fun, engaging experience!
How do I register my child for camp?
Registration for Horse Beginnings Kids Camp is managed through CircuiTree, the camp management software used by the Texas A&M System. Registration will open in April/May 2026, and a link will be provided on our website once available. Please note that our camps follow all guidelines and requirements set forth by the Texas A&M Youth Program for Minors, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for all participants.
How many kids attend each camp session?
Each camp is limited to just 12 participants to ensure a safe, hands-on experience with plenty of individual attention for every camper.
Do I need to pack my kid a lunch?
We provide lunch for the kids both days with plenty of other snacks and drinks. If your child has any food restrictions or food allergies please let us know in advance. We encourage your child to bring plenty of water with them but we will also provide water.
Does my kid need horse experience?
No! Our camp is designed especially for beginners with no prior horse experience needed. Campers will learn everything from the ground up in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
How long are the camps?
The camps are 2 days long.
Day 1: 8:30am-4pm
Day 2: 8:30am-2pm
How many camps are offered each year?
We typically hold 2 camps each summer.
Can I come and watch?
You are more then welcome to come watch at any time! On day 2 we will have a horse show where we encourage families to come watch their kids showcase what they have learned at camp!
What will my kid learn?
Your child will gain hands-on experience in basic horse care and riding. They’ll learn how to groom and tack up a horse, understand key aspects of horse safety, and develop foundational riding skills in a safe, supervised environment. Along the way, they’ll also pick up fun and educational horse facts to help build confidence and spark curiosity.
