Students will check-in to the session by scanning the QR code, like the one shown above. QR codes can be scanned in a variety of ways:
Camera App (on newer phones)
Snapchat
QR Code Reader App (there are many free options available in the App Store/Google Play Store)
Once they’ve scanned the code, they will be prompted to log-in with their NetID & password.
It may ask the students to dual authenticate the first time they sign in, but it should not do this every time they sign into a session.
After successfully signing in, the student’s attendance will be recorded. It will record the student’s name, email, and UIN number automatically.
If for some reason a student cannot scan the QR code, there is a manual entry option right next to the QR code. I would limit the use of manual sign in unless truly necessary to avoid errors when entering UINs.
If you want to see how many students have signed into your SI session, simply hit the “back” button on your browser. You will be able to see all the “Attendees” names, as well as the total number of students who have signed into the session so far.
If you’d like to see the attendance for all your SI sessions for the semester, send your supervisor an email and she can easily download a list for you.
If a student cannot sign in for any reason, please have them write down their Name, Email, and UIN. You can type in their UIN under the "Enter UIN" field of your session on the portal. If you have technical issues, reach out to your supervisor.
If you accidentally create an SI session with the wrong date/type, you won’t be able to delete it on your own. Reach out to your supervisor and they will delete the incorrect session to avoid recording zero attendance.
If you notice errors in the data or glitches with particular students, let your supervisor know ASAP. If there is functionality that this attendance tracker doesn’t have that you would like, let your supervisor know that as well. Since this program was created by A&M just for us, they can change, revise, and add features as needed.
Occasionally, you may have a session where no one shows up. Scan yourself in on the attendance portal if this happens! Even if no one shows, you are expected to remain in the classroom or online for the duration of the session. You can use that time to plan, read, or work on other SI related activities.
