Undergraduate opportunities
Would you like to gain research experience? I am interested in committed and enthusiastic undergraduates to work with me on projects involving Drosophila and Spiroplasma bacteria, as well as in phylogenetics, population genetics, and molecular evolution of different organisms. You can do this for research credits (including a zero credit option). We may also have openings for work-study.
Graduate opportunities
If you are interested in graduate research with me or with Dr. Luis Hurtado, then please send me an email providing the following info:
-Your CV, which should include details on your educational background (including course work and grades; unofficial transcripts suffice at this stage), research experience, publications, as well as a list of any oral presentations and awards you have received and the email addresses and telephone numbers of two-three referees.
-Your research interests.
-A short description of your career goals.
I suggest you contact me before applying to the graduate program in Ecology and Conservation Biology, in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, or in Genetics. Also, several funding opportunities are available for graduate students (e.g. https://www.nsfgrfp.org/). If you are interested in the fellowships offered by the university (current or past calls listed below), your application materials are typically needed by early December (for Fall admission).
If you decide to officially apply to one of the above PhD programs, then it is important that you address the selection criteria of the above fellowships as much as possible in your application (e.g. in you statement of purpose). I’d be happy to guide you through the process.
Postdoctoral opportunities
If you are interested in postdoctoral research in my lab, then please send me an email.
