While going through my classmate's websites (Erika Yao, Evelyn Crowe, Vivan Vo), I noticed a common theme among us is that we all use Spotify as our primary music streaming service and YouTube for video content. Furthermore, I noticed that Vivan and I, both like watching the same sitcoms/comedies, Abbott Elementary and Community. Another form of video content that I found commonalities for was Anime, where I found out that many of my classmates (Akash Jothi, Brian Chen) also enjoy watching Spy x Family. Finally, in the video game section, I noticed that Erika and I both play Valorant, a first-person tactical shooter.
If I was to revise my media categorization, I would like to add the device being used to consume the media as an attribute of a specific instance of that media rather than just listing it off as an option for a bunch of instances of that media. I noticed that websites that were organized this way were easier to parse and gain a better understanding of consumption patterns. Similar to Evelyn's hierarchy, I would like to add the following 3 categories to my hierarchy: audio/visual, audio only, and video only. Furthermore, similar to Erika's website, I would like to discuss the instances of that type of media in an expository format because it gives readers a better understanding of my media preferences.
