01-2025: We are happy to announce the groundbreaking of the Karthein Lab at the Physics Department and the Cyclotron Institute of Texas A&M University. We have exciting projects in the pipeline and are actively searching for talented and motivated students and postdocs to join our efforts on campus, at MIT, and at the accelerator facilities FRIB in Michigan and CERN in Switzerland. 08-2024: Our group published results from recent measurements at the precision laser spectrometer CRIS at the radioactive ion beam facility ISOLDE at CERN in the journal Nature Physics (link, arXiv). These results present significant evidence for the doubly magic character of the 100Sn nucleus through measurements of electromagnetic properties of several indium isotopes. 07-2024: Our group published a theoretical paper about one of our main projects, NEPTUNE, in Physical Review Letters (link, arXiv). We present the novel technique using single molecular ions in a Penning trap that will allow amplification of so far unstudied symmetry-violating electroweak effects by more than 12 orders compared to measurements in atoms. We also elaborate in detail on the method's systematic and statistical uncertainties.
