Part 1:
Create a new web page -- linked from your existing web page -- describe at least three common themes that you identified with links to the pages of other students showing these common elements.
One common reason I saw for taking the course is interest in how media affects our daily lives. Another common reason was taking the course because it is unlike other computer science courses that are offered. Such sentiment is expressed in these sites: https://sites.google.com/view/emilyha/home, https://sites.google.com/view/brianchen, https://sites.google.com/view/tommygarriga/home, https://sites.google.com/view/csce445sgrimshaw.
Another common theme is listening to music. I find it interesting how many of us have different music tastes. While the genre may be different, the way we are drawn to listen to music and how we respond to the music can be the same. Students I saw with unique music tastes include: https://csce445-assignment1.pages.dev/#Media, https://alisalin6.wixsite.com/csce445-alisalin, https://sites.google.com/view/smathencsce445/home.
A common theme was video consumption. I saw fellow students with common interests and common media consumption as mine. Truitt has watched Castlevania and Derry Girls, Krishnan has watched The Good Place and Spy x Family, and Kritika watched Jane The Virgin.
Part 2:
How would you revise your media categorization based on what you read? What would you add to your hierarchy of media?
A revision to my categorization that I would make is adding a category of movies and video. I would add a categorization for still images. A cool addition would be having the same media but sorted into different categories. Instead of sorting by video and audio, I could sort each media into the length of each media like how long from beginning to end.
A revision I would make to the website to improve it visually is making more use of the web page's space. Adding pictures of particular media or snippets of music could be interesting. I would also add hyperlinks to some of the media I had. I found it fun when people hyperlinked their media and shared it for others to also enjoy.
