In order to use Cursor, you must own a laptop that meets a few basic requirements:
Operating System: macOS, Linux, or Windows 10/11
Storage: At least 500MB of free disk space
Memory: At least 4GB of RAM
Internet: An internet connection is required to use the AI features, although not just to code
After you’ve verified these basic requirements, go to cursor.com and download the version that matches your system. The website should automatically suggest the version for your system.
After the file is downloaded, find the installer file in your downloads and run it. A Setup Wizard will guide you through the rest of the installation. If you don’t understand any questions asked, the default choice is often correct. When you first open Cursor, you’ll need to create an account. There are 3 options for a membership, a Free Trial, a Pro Trial for $20/month, and an Ultra version for $200/month. With a new account, you get a 2 week free trial of Pro, to determine your needs on the platform. Your Cursor app should now be ready to use. (Kingsley, Oliver)
