Our paper "Electricity Demand and Grid Impacts of AI Data Centers: Challenges and Prospects" has been accepted for publication in Nexus (Cell Press). Congratulations to the author team!
Our Team recently welcomed representatives from Bentaus to Texas A&M University for a lab tour and discussions on grid-responsive AI infrastructure and large computational loads. Our team later visited a Bentaus data center in Texas to observe its NVIDIA B300 deployments and explore collaborative research on AI workload dynamics, real-time data collection, flexible load operation, and power-grid resilience.
The Consortium on AI and Large Flexible Load (CALL) Workshop 2025 that we organized was featured in the Texas A&M Engineering News.
The EMT dynamic models of AI data center loads that we developed in collaboration with ERCOT have been released. See here for the open-source PSCAD models and user manual.
Dr. Enjeti and Dr. Chen were recently interviewed by ERCOT about Texas A&M University’s collaboration with ERCOT’s Grid Research, Innovation, and Transformation (GRIT) initiative. The partnership investigates how large power-electronic loads, such as data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities, interact with the electric grid. ERCOT’s new press release features our PSCAD EMT dynamic models of large loads (crypto-mining loads) that our team developed in collaboration with ERCOT. The open-source model and technical report are available here.
