A quality control system for droplet microfluidics

FIDELITY (Flotation and Interdigitated electrode forces on Droplets to Enable Lasting system IntegriTY), an IDE-based droplet manipulation system that uses a highly localized electric field generated at the bottom of the microfluidic channel using IDEs and coupled with the fact that droplets float up due to their natural buoyancy in carrier oil, to selectively manipulate only droplets in the desired size range.

A novel solution exchange technique for droplet-based microfluidic platform

In this work, an in-droplet solution exchange platform that integrating DEP-based cell concentration and droplet cleaving/merging function was successfully demonstrated. Due to the simple microfluidic device structure and operation step, this function can be readily integrated with broad ranges of droplet microfluidic assays.

A microfluidic blood plasma filtration system for POC biosensing

Point-of-care (POC) diagnostic systems utilizing microfluidic platforms are becoming popular in the detection of biomarkers in blood samples. In this work, we aim to develop a passive plasma separator that can be effectively integrated into a blood diagnosis system for detecting cardiovascular biomarkers. A single-step process of creating a cell-free region in the flow without the plasma being actively extracted from the whole blood is envisaged. Sensors are proposed to be placed in the cell-free zones for biomarker detection.

A Separation-Free Point-of-Care Device for Whole Blood Glucose Detection

We developed a gel-based POC device for blood glucose colorimetric detection. Our method encapsulated enzymes and chromogenic substrate in gel to enable the detection without the need for pre-separation of blood plasma.
