What to Expect

The goal of this event is to bring information systems faculty, students, and supporters together for friendly and collaborative development and networking.

The following objectives for the Big XII+ MIS Research Symposium have been emphasized from the beginning of the symposium in 2003:

• Networking among Big XII+ faculty members and PhD students

• Learning about ongoing research at Big XII+ schools

• Identifying potential areas for research collaboration

• Identifying potential areas for joint funding proposals

• Providing opportunities for graduating PhD students to interact with faculty members from potential hiring institutions

• Providing a collegial environment to advance MIS research and teaching

Symposium Conventions

• The conference will provide an informal setting for networking and will center around research presentations by junior faculty members and Ph.D. students. Prominent researchers will attend the meetings and participate in both panels and general discussions. 

• Participants who are not presenting should register by March 29, 2024.

Paper Presentations

• While the number of participants from each school is not limited, schools may only provide two presenters due to time constraints. Presenters may be PhD students or junior faculty. 

• Department chairs should email Dr. Jordana George at jgeorge@mays.tamu.edu with the names of their two selected presenters by March 22, 2024.

• Research paper presentations may be at any stage. 

• Presenters must register and submit their papers by March 22.

• Paper formats may use any common journal or conference style, such MISQ, JAIS, ICIS, etc. with inline citations. Please do not use numbered citations and endnotes. Single or double-spaced is acceptable.

Meals

• In an effort to keep participant expenses at a minimum, the conference will not require a registration fee. A&M will provide a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings and a full lunch each day. 

• Sunday's lunch will be the customary Big XII+ box lunch for grab-and-go. 

• Friday evening is a Welcome Reception with light refreshments, while Saturday evening offers dinner at our traditional Social Event.

Social Event

• The social event takes place on Saturday evening from 6:00 -9:00 pm.

• Join us at The University Club at Rudder Tower on campus.

• Be sure to bring school swag for our annual gift exchange!
