Trips & Events

The Drive Up 5/23-5/25

My girlfriend Lindsay and I made the drive to Washington, D.C. from Godley, Texas, making several stops along the way. Lindsay and I had a fun trip up with over 20 hours of driving, 4 different states covered, memories made, songs sung, biology tests taken, and some fun stops made along the way!

Trip to Mount Vernon 6/8

My childhood best-friend and I went on a trip to Mount Vernon to see George Washington's home and estate. Located on the banks of the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia, the estate provided breathtaking views of the countryside and of 18th century architecture used to design Washington's home. Full of rich history, Mount Vernon was an amazing educational experience.

Trip to Lexington, VA 6/14-6/16

My childhood best-friend and I have been friends since we were 3 years old. Brooklyne and I went our separate ways after high school, attending different universities. She left Texas to attend Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia on a full ride scholarship, while I stayed in Texas to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. This was a fun weekend where I could see her university and its surrounding area as well as spend time with my best-friend.

Tour Around D.C. 6/23

My childhood best-friend Brooklyne Oliveira, Sarah her friend from France, and I were able to tour around Washington, D.C. and see many of the monuments. I greatly enjoyed spending time with my friends and seeing all that we could see!

Curacao 6/28-7/7

This Christmas, my Christmas present was a trip to Curacao with my family. Curacao is a desert island of the coast of Venezuela near Aruba and Bonaire. In Curacao, we were able to tour around the island, scuba dive, and relax by the ocean. This was an amazing beach vacation and I hope I can one day return to the island.

Colton's Night Tour 7/11

After attending the Farms to Food 2.0 reception with local farmers, hill staff, and fellow interns hosted by CropLife America, a few of us were able to tour around the Capitol after hours. It was amazing to see the Capitol building nearly completely empty and just about all to ourselves. Luckily, we were able to go to several locations not open to tours. Definitely a fun excursion to take part in!

House Agriculture Committee 7/12

My roommate, Colton Russell, took me on a tour around our Nations Capitol and House Office Buildings. Particularly, we went to the House Agriculture Committee room where their hearings take place. It is only natural that House Ag has the best view in the house of the Capitol.

Koe Wetzel 7/12

Went to see Koe Wetzel perform at U Street Music Hall with several DC intern friends that I have made. Koe Wetzel was born and raised in East Texas and has quickly gained popularity having a mix of southern rock and East Texas charm to the country music scene.

New York City 7/19-7/21

I traveled to New York City with fellow ANRP interns Colton Russel, Allison Compton, and Hannah Hawkins. On this weekend trip, we were able to see a Broadway show called "The Book of Mormon" that was hilarious. Also, we saw the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, the Empire State Building, Times Square, and much more!
